How it works: Clip the quick-release catch to your dog's harness or collar and hold the ABS handle. The nylon cord pays out as your dog moves off and winds back as they return, so there is no slack trailing on the ground. Press the button to stop the cord at any length, and slide the lock on when you want it held there, for instance while you cross a road.

Good for: parks, beaches and bush tracks, recall practice on a long line, and dogs who like to sniff their way around.

Not for: busy footpaths and strong pullers who lunge — let the cord out only where there is space, and always lock it short near traffic.
